| UNLIKELY
PILGRIMS is a 42-minute documentary that offers insight into young people’s
relationship with God, the challenges they face living their faith in today’s
world and the significant role faith plays in their lives. The documentary
follows four young people to find out why they - like an increasing number
of Canadian youth today - are embracing their faith. Gyslain, Richard, Joey
and Monica come from different backgrounds but they all have one thing in
common - their faith.
Gyslain and Richard are old high school buddies who unexpectedly meet up at World Youth Day. Both credit their faith for leading them out of years of drug and alcohol addiction, jail time and prostitution. Unlike many 17-year-olds, Monica is actively religious and not afraid to show it. Despite her convictions, she still wrestles with some of the Church’s teachings. Joey is convinced he was brainwashed by his family into practicing Catholicism as a child. Now in university, Joey is making up his own mind. These unique and touching testimonies of faith demonstrate the age-old truth that, in discovering one’s relationship with God, no one’s path is quite the same. |
